Energy accounts

Energy accounts present the supply and use of energy by people living in Austria, and by companies and institutions registered in Austria, in the form of physical and energy units, regardless of where in the world they consume the energy. Energy balances also present the supply and use of energy in Austria but, as opposed to the energy accounts, irrespective of the user's origin.

On the supply side, energy accounts show the domestic energy production and imports. The use side includes intermediate consumption, namely the use of energy commodities by companies (as well as their non-energetic consumption), losses, stock changes, exports and household consumption.

Based on this, a statistical framework was developed on international level, which is conceptually embedded in the environmental economic accounts and is therefore fully compatible with the principles, concepts and classifications of the national accounts and the other environmental economic accounts - the physical energy flow accounts (PEFA).
